Direct flights between İzmir and Almaty have started
SunExpress has launched direct flights between İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport and Almaty Airport, both operated by TAV Airports. The airline will operate two weekly round-trip flights between the two cities on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Direct flights between İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport and Almaty Airport, both operated by TAV Airports, a member of Groupe ADP, have started with inaugural ceremonies held at both airports. SunExpress' first flight on the İzmir–Almaty route departed from İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport on 31 July 2026 as flight XQ822, operated with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 177 passengers. As part of the inaugural flight, a send-off ceremony was held at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, while a welcome ceremony took place at Almaty Airport. Starting from 31 July 2026, İzmir–Almaty flights will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays.

İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, operated by TAV Airports, served 5,994,584 passengers in the first six months of 2026, while Almaty Airport welcomed 5,761,269 passengers during the same period. Both airports were recognized among the world's best airports at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards.
